Tracks
Every day, thousands of people walk along outdoor routes with physical signage that varies in abundance, consistency and preservation. On some routes, such as the main routes of the Camino de Santiago, it is sufficient to follow clearly visible signs. On others, it is useful to use mobile devices to follow the route and avoid dangers or unnecessary detours. For this reason, route tracks have become one of the most important elements of a journey. on foot or by bicycle.
In order to facilitate the use of this technology, Viando has partnered with Outdooractive to to provide the community with accurate, free and up-to-date information of the routes and destinations we work with.
Next, here's how you can access the tracks in a direct and fun way. And, at the same time, discover new routes for later on.
How do I access the tracks of my route?
#1 Download the application
First, download the free Outdooractive app.
You can do this from App Store (Iphone) or Google Play (Android)
#2 Register for the application
Once you have downloaded the application, you must create an account (in the same way you create accounts on any other application or website). You will need to provide an email address and password. Outdooractive will send an email to your email address with a link to activate the account.
#3 Choose your subscription
Pro and Pro+ accounts have a number of advantages that we encourage you to explore, but to be able to use the tracks, a free subscription is sufficient..
After choosing the subscription, the application is ready for use.
#4 Scan the QR code of your route
Among the documentation sent for your trip you will find the Travel Programme with the details of services and accommodation for each day and QR codes for each of the stages.
Use the camera on your phone to scan the code of the stage you want to open. It will give you a link that will automatically open the Outdooractive app.
#5 Start enjoying
The application will open the route you have selected. There you can see a description and map of the route, the elevation profile (if you click on the graph you can see more details such as the type of surface of each section), weather forecast, community questions and answers, etc.
At the top of the screen you can choose between the "Route" tab, with all the details of the route, or the "Map" tab, where you can see the itinerary on an interactive map with different points of interest created by the community (including those created by Viando). Selecting the one you want, you will be able to see its detailed information.
Finally, at the bottom of the screen, you will see, among others, the options for:
